Module 4 - Topic 1: Exercises - Google Web Search

For these exercises we are just going to play! In this topic we have introduced you to these tools but the best way to get to know them is by using them - so have some fun!

1. Do searches on two or three topics of your choice using Google exploring the various options as discussed in the blog post and then repeat these searches using Yahoo, Bing and Exalead (make sure you explore the various options in these search engines as well).

2. Write a post, headed Google Web Searches, about your experience in using the different search engines:

  • When would it be useful to use the various Google options?
  • How did the results differ between the different search engines?
  • Did you find the options easy to use; which ones did you like the most?

3. Email northshorelibraries@gmail.com with a link to your blogpost. Please put Module 4 - Topic 1 in the subject heading of your gmail.
